Dept Of Licensing Silverdale - SILVERDALE - As passengers load and unload at the new Silverdale Transit Center, their buses gather energy for their next trip.
Work is starting soon on the new Kitsap Transit Center near the Highway 303-Ridgetop Boulevard overbridge. The center is expected to open in the fall of 2023. Many officials including Govt. On Thursday, Jay Inslee and Federal Transit Administration chief Nuria Fernandez threw the first dirt in the rain.

"Not only is this a transit hub that will be key to our entire operation, it's the first transit system in Western Washington that we know of that has a wireless charging capability for our battery electric buses." "We all know that the current technology of cell phones is that you put your phone in the gizmo and it automatically charges," said director John Clauson at the groundbreaking ceremony. Well, as part of this project we have two gizmos where buses come and stop and they can be recharged while they are loading and unloading passengers. We are very happy about that. "

The transit center will be built next month on a low-lying property off Ridgetop Boulevard from St Michael Medical Center Coils installed on footpaths will automatically recharge battery-electric buses Along with the center, workers will also add a dedicated on-ramp for southbound Kitsap Transit buses on Highway 303.
The FTA provided about $10 million in federal grants for the project, the state Department of Transportation provided $4.5 million for right-of-way acquisition and $2.5 million for construction, and Kitsap Transit provided $1.5 million for design and engineering and $4 million for construction.
"The way to avoid that is the kind of work we do in Kitsap County," he said. An electric bus is one way to give our grandchildren the chance to catch salmon in Olympic National Park. That's a good day's work I'm very happy about it from that point of view, but it's also an economic development opportunity, because when we do things like this, we build a whole economic ecosystem.
Kitsap Transit currently operates two electric buses, and the agency hopes to have 30 electric buses by the end of 2024.

This new facility has been in the works for a long time It will eventually replace the Trails Transit Center in Silverdale, a dead-end spur on Greaves Way. After giving up its location at the Kitsap Mall, Kitsap Transit is moving to the trails as it has identified a new location for a transit hub.

Iris Miranda moved to Washington to pursue her career as a notary public, but the delay caused by the hack left her worried that her career would be over.

On January 13, Miranda applied for a notary license to the Washington Department of Licensing (DOL). When he didn't hear back, he went to the department's website and found a notice out of system.
"I was worried then," he said. "I was wondering, did I submit all the information to a fake website?"
It turns out that Miranda is one of about 650,000 people whose personal information, including Social Security and driver's license numbers, was compromised after the DOL database was hacked.
Miranda cannot work without a professional license It's been over a month, but that doesn't worry him too much

"I can always do other duties, I can always get another job, but what about my identity?" he asked.
The DOL has come up with a way for people to renew their licenses offline - by manually filling out and submitting a form found on the DOL website.
The department is in the process of approving renewal applications but plans to begin the new license application process next week, DOL spokesman Nathan Olson said.
Olson determined that the hack only affected occupational licenses, not driver's or boating licenses. He also said that the department shut down their systems as soon as the hack was confirmed.

"We're looking at why this is happening and what we're trying to do to make sure it doesn't happen again," he said.
He admitted, however, that the department does not know when the system will operate at full capacity.
Now, Miranda wonders how many others out there can't get new licenses, like real estate brokers, hairdressers and architects.
